United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Endorses Brendan Gill for Congress
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Today, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), one of the most respected unions representing every aspect of the private sector, including the grocery, food processing, hotel and hospitality, food service, restaurant, and health care industries.
UFCW highlighted Gill’s deep history of community leadership and his unwavering dedication to the people he serves:
“Brendan Gill has a long and proven track record of fighting for Essex County families and standing firmly with the working class,” said Max Bruny, Chair of the UFCW District Council of New York and New Jersey and President of UFCW Local 888. “Throughout his career, he has shown up for workers and delivered real results for the communities he serves. We need someone with Brendan’s commitment, integrity, and experience in Congress. UFCW is proud to stand with him.”
“Brendan Gill understands the issues facing working people and fights for union members, having grown up in a union household himself,” said Sam Ferraino, President of UFCW Local 360. “We’re proud to support him because he’s had our backs in Essex County and is going to have our backs in Washington, D.C.”
“Brendan Gill’s track record of standing up for working families spans more than a decade,” said Harvey Whille, President of UFCW Local 1262. “His commitment to our communities and labor has been steadfast. With Brendan, UFCW members and all working people in New Jersey’s 11th District will have a voice in Congress advocating for them.”
“I’m thankful to have the support of UFCW in my campaign for Congress,” said Brendan Gill. “UFCW has worked tirelessly to win strong contracts and organize in solidarity for the benefit of the workers they represent. In Washington, we need leaders who will stand up for the working class, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside them.”
