Voters in NJ-11:
It is important that Democratic voters watching YouTube and streaming services see that this race between Brendan Gill and Tom Malinowski is about an experienced fighter vs. a scandal-plagued, ethically-challenged former member of Congress.
Day One is the clearest contrast in this race. On Day One, Brendan Gill will go to Congress to fight Trump and deliver for New Jersey’s middle class like he always has – taking on the affordability crisis, defending our values, and sticking up for Jersey.
On Day One, Tom Malinowski could pick up right where he left off – under investigation for violating ethics rules and federal law.
Instead of fighting Trump, Malinowski “secretly” bought and sold as much as $3.2 million in medical and technology stocks during the pandemic, and kept those trades hidden till he was caught. Investigators found ample evidence that Malinowski broke the rules, but he escaped further scrutiny when voters kicked Malinowski out of Congress. His relentless and corrupt insider stock trading helped put MAGA Republicans in charge of Congress.
If Malinowski is elected, the yet to be concluded Congressional Ethics Investigation of Malinowski could immediately commence – again putting him under a microscope and leaving him politically paralyzed from the start of his term.
Driving this contrast – accomplished fighter (Gill) vs. baggage (Malinowski) – especially with persuadable Democratic primary voters, high-propensity special election voters, is critical.
Voters are clear that Jersey can’t afford distractions. We need a Day One fighter for the Middle Class: Brendan Gill – not a defeated, scandal-ridden former Member of Congress.
People are reading that former Congressional candidate and former Maplewood Mayor, Dean Dafis, along with the entire Maplewood Town Council, have endorsed Brendan Gill for Congress in NJ-11.
They are supporting Brendan because he has a record of delivering for communities across Essex County, and in Maplewood, he is laser-focused on making life more affordable for families, from healthcare to groceries, and will always stand up to Trump.
Key initiatives that Brendan has delivered in Essex County:
- Assisted the Passage of the Essex County Small Business Lease Emergency Assistance Grant – Brendan helped advance and support the Small Business Lease Emergency Assistance Grant, which provided grants of up to $30,000 to small businesses and nonprofits struggling to pay commercial rent – protecting local jobs, stabilizing main streets, and preventing permanent closures.
- Brendan created the Essex County Office of LGBTQ+ affairs to provide services, advocacy, and resources for the LGBTQ community and local organizations.
- Improved and revitalized the South Mountain Reservation, including Turtle Back Zoo, by funding trail maintenance, open space protection, and updating playgrounds.
- When Donald Trump was targeting Democratic hotspots, he fought for election integrity and voter protection to ensure our ballots were safe from interference and remained auditable.
A quote from Dean Dafis:
“Since suspending my own campaign in this critical election, I’ve given serious thought about who I would endorse and why,” Dafis said in a statement. “Considering what’s at stake, knowing what it takes in government to deliver results for our constituents, and looking to continue uplifting my LGBTQIA+ community, I’m proud to throw my support to my fellow Essex elected leader and longstanding partner in public service, Brendan Gill.”
